In Loving Memory of
Rev. Patricia “Pat” Kennedy
1938 ~ 2018

A constant and effervescent presence on the grounds of Camp Chesterfield for over 50 years, Rev. Patricia Kennedy served her church and camp community tirelessly and selflessly as a minister, medium, teacher, and resident, devoting her entire life to the service of others.

Most notably and exceptionally, Rev. Pat was beloved by all those who knew her, especially her students, whom she unselfishly assisted in all aspects of their ministerial studies and mediumship development.

Although small in physical stature, she had a larger than life personality. Rev. Pat wore many hats over the years as she took on the important roles of teacher, minister, counselor, neighbor, trustee, and friend.  Rev. Patricia Kennedy made her earthly transition into Spirit on November 25, 2018.

Few people who have passed through the hallowed gates of Camp Chesterfield have had more of an impact on those whom they met and mentored.  Generous to a fault, Rev. Pat’s kindhearted generosity to all those whom she came into contact with is her hallmark and one that will be a part of her lasting legacy.  Serving as a past-President of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists (IAOS), as well as taking on many other duties and filling numerous other positions on the board during her long tenure at Camp Chesterfield, Rev. Pat did much to benefit not only camp but also the local community.

For many years, Rev. Pat raised money for charitable causes including the Anderson Fire Department, Humane Society, and Animal Protection League.  She served over a period of many years as the officiating minister during the “Blessing of the Animals” where people in the surrounding area and community would bring their pets and service animals to be blessed.  During the annual SpiritFest, she could always be found assisting with a charity that was close to her heart.  As late as September 2018, even though she was experiencing severe health issues, she insisted upon being an active part of the fundraising effort, combining two causes that she so dearly loved—animals and police officers, raising funds to purchase bullet-proof vests for local police dogs.

A U.S. Air Force Veteran herself, Rev. Pat worked diligently throughout her life to assist and help other U.S. Veterans whom she supported through her ministry and community-based activities.  She spearheaded a “self-esteem” project that assisted veterans of the armed forces and members of an American Legion Post inside the Pendleton Correctional Facility by encouraging the inmates to build a variety of do-it-yourself projects where they designed and made bird and squirrel feeders, dog houses, scratching posts for cats, and butterfly houses.  The money raised was donated towards food and veterinary care costs for puppies the inmates were in charge of training to become eventual service dogs for children.

Rev. Patricia Kennedy’s physical presence, as well as her magnanimous and benevolent disposition will be greatly missed.  Her unbridled enthusiasm for Camp Chesterfield, and penchant for popping into the various events to greet students and colleagues, made her the unofficial “cheerleader” for camp, a role she did quite effortlessly.  As she continues to do her spiritual work from the other side of the veil, her lifelong dedication to Camp Chesterfield and her students, as well as the totality of her life and work, will always be held in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved her.
